Q: Do sub-ingredients need to be listed on the label?

A: No. However, hhe cottage food law, Minnesota Statutes 28A.152, Sec. 7. subdivision 1, (1) (i) states that ingredients and allergens are required on the cottage food product label. Any allergens declared in the sub-ingredients are required to be on the label because the product does contain those allergens.

Remember, all ingredients must appear in order of predominance in the finished product. The federal labeling code provides more details.
